04-09-09 - 2009 Show Report
The 2009 Show carried more classes than ever and was very successful.  Also more trade stands attended, all of whom were well supported.  We were pleased to have Central Horse News and Welsh Breeds News magazines in attendance, both will be reporting on the Show in the next month or so.

Despite the changeable weather, and rain setting in in the afternoon, the ground was in superb order, as Hay-on-Wye never suffered the bad weather of Builth Wells the previous week.

Congratulations to all those who were successful on the day, and we look forward to welcoming you all again next year, for an even bigger and better Show.  Please visit our Photo page for a selection of pictures taken this year by Michael Martin Photography, whose contact details you will find on our Sponsors page, should you wish to view all the photos taken on the day.

The results of the Affiliated Welsh Pony & Cob Classes and Affiliated Driving classes can be found on our Results page

22-11-08 - NEW FOR 2009:

There are several major alterations to our Schedule for 2009 which we hope will be popular.  Although keeping the affiliations with the Welsh Pony & Cob Society and the British Driving Society, we have decided not to affiliate to the Ponies UK Association.

We have introduced many additional classes, with something for everyone.  As well as both Ridden and In Hand showing, Hunter, Riding Horse, Pony Club and Working Hunter Pony classes there will be Lead rein jumping, Fancy dress, Open local pony, Handy pony, Potential Ride or Drive and much, much more.

All afternoon there is to be a Gymkhana with classes from Lead rein to Open.

The Show Jumping which is always very popular remains the same except for the introduction of the Lead Rein Jumping.

The Welsh Pony & Cob Society Medal classes will not now include Section B classes, due to lack of support in this section.  Section A, C & D are retained.

The Driving Classes remain the same.

Along with the new format, the Committee are pleased to have secured the services of a new caterer, Boss Hogg, (01568 708892  www.boss-hogg.co.uk ) who will provide a variety of hot and cold food, as well as ice creams.

Also new for 2009 are photographers, Michael Martin (01746 718040  www.michaelmartin.co.uk ) Michael will be providing photographs for purchase on the day or alternatively from his website on line after the Show.

The new 2009 schedules will be available from late March 2009.

03-08-08 - A Glorious 2008 Show

This Year’s show was blessed with glorious weather, although at times a trifle too hot!  We had some excellent entries and in particular the driving classes were very well supported.  It was a joy to see so many turnouts.

Trade stands were up on previous years’ and were varied in what they had to offer. Also present were Equine Market Watch, a locally based Horse Charity, with bases in Wales, Hereford and Shropshire.

General public were also in abundance and enjoyed the varied facilities on offer.  I am sure the icecream van was kept very busy.

Hounds were popular when they paraded with many children entering the ring to make friends with them. The new Best Shod judging was very interesting, I never knew there were so many farriers’ working within our locality!

We have had a highly successful show and look forward to next year, which we hope will be even better!

Tina.
Secretary.
